Hello Kelly here with my September solo post. My card is a one layer card made with the pretty floral background stamp from Casual Fridays, “Full on Floral” and sentiment stamps from Hero Arts fantastic stamp and Cut set, “Hello Stamp & Cut”. I haven’t made a one layered card in a while, I tend to get my fingers inky and with a one layer card I have to remember to watch not to make ink smudges as they are harder to hide. To protect the back of my card I used post it notes.
I diecut an oval from Eclipse Masking paper and put it in the center of the front of my card. I used my Misti stamp positioner to stamp the floral background with Hero Arts black ink. I left my card in my Misti, removed the oval mask and stamped the sentiment stamps with Versamark. I embossed the sentiment with Hero Arts white embossing powder. Then I applied distress ink in three shades, Candied Apple, Mustard Seed and Mermaid Lagoon. I used a sponge tool to apply the inks layering the ink to get the rainbow colours. I was inspired by an online lesson taught by Kristina Werner to layer the inks for the rainbow colours. When I made this card we were experiencing weather from hurricane Harvey, which made it very humid I had to use my Hero Arts heat tool to help dry the ink as even the dye ink was not drying well and I didn’t want to smudge the floral background. Holding my card by the area protected by post it notes also helped keep down ink smudging.
Thank you for taking a look at my card, please come back Monday to see inspiration from some of the Design team for September’s Challenge.
