Hi there! It’s Tami Hartley, honored to be here today with another dash of Christmas-travaganza cheer!
Today I’m sharing a fun and simple way to dress up your gifts this holiday season. These 3-D star package toppers are SO easy to create and you can make a handful ahead of time to have ready for a marathon gift wrapping session. If you’re anything like me, that might happen somewhere around December 23. 🙂
1. Stamp background of your choice onto white cardstock with a light colored ink. I used the beautiful Collage Music Background from Hero Arts here. Next, stamp the Wire Star with a medium to dark colored ink on top.
2. Cut out the star and score a line from the top of each point down to the opposite, inside point. Repeat for each of the points so that you end up with five scored lines as shown below.
3. Work your way around the star, folding on each of the five scored lines. Then fold the shorter lines (between the points) in the opposite direction to give your star a dimensional look. You can think of it this way: long lines = peaks; short lines = valleys.
4. There are many ways you could finish the star. I embellished very simply with a button threaded with some silver metallic thread. A glue dot secures the star to the package. And that’s it…a fun alternative to a bow!
