I love the big sentiment dies from Honeybee Stamps and wanted to let that be the main focus of my card!
I started by watercoloring Spun Sugar, Dried Marigold, and Picked Raspberry distress ink onto two pieces of watercolor paper and let it dry. Then I spritzed the Pearl Strings Bold Prints background stamp with water and pressed one piece of the watercolor paper onto the stamp. I pressed it against the stamp for a 20 seconds or so and then carefully lifted the watercolor paper. As the water soaked into the paper it left that faded design on the watercolor paper. You could easily replicate this design with any distress inks and any background stamps though it won’t work as nicely with intricate designs.
Then I repeated the process with the second piece of watercolor paper and after it was dry I die-cut the sentiment from Honeybee with the second piece of paper. I rotated the paper before I die-cut the sentiment so that the colors of the sentiment would be the opposite of the background panel. I stamped the rest of the sentiment from the Hero Arts’ Birthday Messages set with versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. Finally I adhered the word die with foam mounting tape and added a sprinkling of sparkling clear sequins to finish the card!
I hope you enjoyed my card and that it inspires you to break out those watercolors! I can’t wait to see what you’ll create for our Watercolor challenge! Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous day!
