Happy Friday to you! This month we are so lucky to be collaborating with Studio Katia. Haven’t heard of them? Well, just click on that link and go exploring, because her stuff is amazing, and you must get some. The products are not only beautiful to look at, but work beautifully. Stamp perfectly the first time, every time. And if you know me, that’s basically how I judge a stamp company. I need all the help I can get when I craft, so I need the product to work as designed, and Studio Katia does not disappoint!
Our challenge theme this month is “Bling It Up“, which means get out your glitter, your sparkles, your sequins, anything that shines, we want to see it. You could win a gift certificate to Studio Katia! So please enter our challenge. Make sure to read the rules. We like rules.
Here’s my card using many of the new products from Studio Katia. First, this amazing die called Darling Ribbon & Dotted Frames. For me, this is a must have. I am in need of more frame dies, and I love how this has the dotted details along the edge. I used a new background stamp from Hero Arts, the Wallpaper Pattern, and stamped that onto a piece of watercolor paper using distress inks. I wanted a very muted, not perfect, impression. Once that was dry, I ran in through my die cutting machine.
For my main floral image I used the new Artistic Dahlia stamp from Hero Arts and heat embossed it with Hero Arts platinum embossing powder onto watercolor paper. Note to self, I need those matching dies. You do too, if you get this stamp. It’s amazing, and I would love to make card sets with it, but will definitely need the die for that. It’s not hard to cut out, but let’s just say that (as I’ve mentioned before), I’m getting “older” and my eyes want more dies.
I colored the dahlia with zig markers. I googled dahlia photos and saw that many had concentrated color in the center that faded out to white, so I went with that as my coloring inspiration. It’s just so lovely of an image, I think it would be hard to mess it up no matter how you colored it.
I used a leaf image from the Studio Katia Together We Bloom stamp set to clear emboss some images on the card front. Just a little something something to bring the card together, and also, I wanted to be able to add some shimmer to them.
Speaking of shimmer, here’s a closeup of the flower showing all of the Spectrum Noir clear overlay that I put on it, and also on the leaves in the background. I am not a big fan of sparkle, shimmer or shine, but these pens are just right. They’re the Goldilocks of shimmer pens!
That’s it from me today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Make sure to take some time to get your craft on! Oh, and P.S. I stamped the “from us” on the inside of the card, hence the title of this blog post. I just forgot to take a picture of that, and this card is already on the way to it’s recipient.
