Did you miss me last month? I missed you! I am so happy to be here today to share a fun card I made to go along with the new challenge to use embossing.
My husband saw the graphic and said this was the perfect challenge for me! Apparently he thinks I’m a wee bit bossy. Well, someone’s got to be or nothing would get done, right?? For my card I did some regular old heat embossing (the zig-zags on the sunburst strips, and the sentiment). But I also wanted to try out something new…embossing with water! Check out below my card for a play by play of how it all went down.
I wanted to get that random ink splatter look on the cardstock with the sentiment. I know I could have used a spray mist, but I am a serious failure when it comes to using those things. I either get too much or not enough. Plus I end up with it all over my hands and then adios white card base! So, I wanted to see what would happen if I spritzed my paper with water(I needed a little something for the powder to cling to) and then sprinkled it with embossing powder and zapped. Here’s what I did…
1. Stamped and heat embossed my sentiment (this is pretty self explanatory!)
2. Spritzed paper with water – You only need one spritz really, and you want to spritz from a pretty good distance so you don’t overly saturate your paper, otherwise this will be a hot mess! (Ask me how I know…)
3. Cover misted paper with embossing powder, tap off excess really well (especially if you went a little over board with the spritzing)
|AFTER TAPPING OFF EXCESS|
4. Heat embossed -The trick is to let your heat gun get really warm before hitting your paper with it, and when you do hold it pretty far away or it blows too much powder off. Patience will get you far with this technique!
Can’t wait to see you get bossy!
Have a great week!
